An official of the International Human Rights Commission (IHRC) has praised the United Arab Emirates' commitment to enhancing human rights and to maintaining a record consistent with the international practices.
Salwa Ghaddar Younes, IHRC's ambassador at large for world peace said in a statement to be published tomorrow by 'Al Watan' newspaper that the U.A.E. has a comprehensive vision for human rights, which emanates from the belief that humans are the core of any development process.
Ambassador Salwa, who is currently visiting the U.A.E., said the country's constitution granted equality, social justice, civil liberties and religious freedoms.
"The U.A.E. works constantly to update its legislations to be more consistent with its commitment to the universal declaration of human rights and relevant international conventions, as well as to its rich culture, heritage and religious values of tolerance, equality and justice," she added.
