Three-hundred ninety-one Indian nationals were evacuated from a pilgrims’ residence in Mecca, Saudi Arabia on Tuesday after a fire broke out, according to Saudi Press Agency.
The spokesman for General Directorate of Civil Defense in Mecca, Major Naif Al-Sharif confirmed that the fire broke out in a room on the seventh floor of the building. The residence was inhabited by Indian pilgrims.
Al-Sharif added that firefighters managed to put the fire out and that the pilgrimage-goers escaped the residence without any injuries.
He stated that an investigation has been carried out in order to determine the circumstances of the fire
