Five people were killed and 15 others injured in a traffic accident in a Cairo suburb on Sunday evening, a security official said. The accident took place when a truck collided with 11 cars at Tajamoa Al Khames District in New Cairo City in east of Cairo, Assistant Interior Minister for Civil Protection Major General Abdulaziz Tawfeeq was quoted by Egypt's official news agency (MENA) as saying. The 15 injured people were taken to nearby hospitals, he said, adding that some of them were seriously wounded. Security bodies concerned are investigating the accident, he pointed out.
