Seven people were confirmed dead on Wednesday after a container ship crashed into the control tower at the port of the north-western Italian city of Genoa. According to dpa, the victims were coast guard members, officials from the Port Authority and port pilots who were inside the tower at the time of the accident, authorities said. Three more people were missing, while four survivors had been hospitalized. "I heard a big bang and I found myself underwater, under the rubble, but I managed to find a way out," one of them, Gabriele Russo, a Port Authority officer, was quoted as saying by the website of the La Repubblica daily.
