Muscat - Arabstoday

Seven students were killed when a minivan carrying 14 people overturned on Friday in Al Afiyah area of Izki Wilayat in Oman, according to a Royal Oman Police (ROP) press release. The minivan, carrying students between the ages of 10 to 20, was heading to the Bahla from Muscat when it skidded off road after crossing the Al Afiyah flyover. The injured were taken to the Nizwa Referral Hospital. Police said they are investigating what caused the incident. Meanwhile, statistics released by ROP reveal that 76 people died and 836 were injured due to 504 traffic accidents in different parts of the country in the month of November. The ROP said that reckless driving coupled with speed are the main reasons for the increasing number of accidents.
