Dubai will host the 7th Regional Intellectual Property, IP, Crime Conference in Middle East and North Africa from 5th to 7th November, under the patronage of Lieutenant-General Dahi Khalfan Tamim, the Deputy Chairman of Police and Public Security in Dubai, and the Honorary President of the Emirates Intellectual Property Association, EIPA.

The two-day event is organised by the Emirates Intellectual Property Association, EIPA, in collaboration with INTERPOL, the world’s largest international police organisation; Dubai Police; Dubai Customs; Institute of Training and Judicial Studies; the Brand Owners’ Protection Group, BPG, and UL, a global independent safety science company.

Major General Dr. Abdul Quddus Abdul Razzaq Al Obaidly, Assistant Commander-in-Chief for Dubai Police’s Quality and Excellence and Chairman of EIPA’s Board of Directors, said the conference supports UAE's efforts to fight IP crimes and EIPA's mandate to promote the culture of IP as well as raise awareness about the severity of forfeit goods on consumer health and safety as well as on the economy.

''A powerful line-up of 52 IP exerts from local, regional and international organisations and law enforcement agencies from 18 countries including France, Denmark, China, UK, US, Egypt and Jordan, will speak about international best practices and experiments in the protection of IP," he told a press conference held to unveil details of the conference.

They will also present case studies, industry perspectives and latest trends.

The event provides a unique forum for delegates to share and develop best practices to combat counterfeiting and piracy crimes. Held on an annual basis, it brings together police, customs, regulatory agencies, private sector intellectual property crime investigators and prosecutors.

The conference programme includes plenary sessions, panel sessions, operational workshops and specialised IP crime training sessions.
