UAE Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan met Egypt's Interim President Adli Mansour, Interim Vice-President Mohammed El Baradei and General Abdel Fattah El Sisi, First Deputy Prime Minister, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Minister of Defence and Military Production of Egypt, here on Sunday. In the meeting with Egypt's president, Sheikh Abdullah said the UAE is keen to support the will of the Egyptian people, so that they may achieve their aspirations and goals for security, stability and progress. Sheikh Abdullah conveyed to him the greetings of the President, His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. Sheikh Abdullah re-affirmed the strong commitment of the UAE's leadership to fraternal relations between the two sisterly countries. The Egyptian president thanked the UAE's leadership and people for supporting Egypt and hailed the country's efforts to support the legitimacy of the demands of the Egyptian people in addition to providing help in all fields. The meeting was attended by UAE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Dr Anwar Mohammed Gargash, Egyptian Foreign Minister Nabil Fahmi, Presidential Adviser for Strategic Affairs Dr Mustafa Al Hijazi and UAE Ambassador to Egypt Mohammed bin Nakhaira Al Dhahiri. In the meeting with Mohammed El Baradei, Sheikh Abdullah was briefed on the latest developments in Egypt and on the policies and the steps taken by the interim government. Sheikh Abdullah noted that the UAE is keen to provide all support to the Egyptian government so that it may address the current challenges, for the benefit of the country and its people. Sheikh Abdullah and General Sisi discussed bilateral relations and ways to strengthen them in the best interests of the two countries and peoples. Gen. Sisi briefed Sheikh Abdullah on the latest developments in Egypt, stressing that there are opportunities to resolve the current crisis peacefully, provided that all parties commit themselves to renounce violence and not to disrupt or destroy state facilities or to jeopardise the interests of citizens. He called for parties to adhere to the roadmap for the future that has been accepted by the Egyptian people. Gen. Sisi said the president of the Republic and the prime minister shoulder the functions of State, noting that the Armed Forces appreciates the efforts exerted by all parties to reach a peaceful settlement to the sit-ins. For his part, Sheikh Abdullah stressed the permanent support of the UAE government and people for Egypt, especially at this critical stage, adding that the UAE is confident that the Egyptian people have the ability to overcome this delicate stage in order to achieve stability and progress.
