The 2017 The Chartered Institute for IT (BCS) ICT Conference was inaugurated today in the capital at the Eastern Mangroves Hotel under the theme, "Towards 21st Century Innovations".
During the event, which is being held under the patronage of Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance, many academics and researchers are taking part in the event to discuss the top issues of innovation and prospect the future of information technology and cybersecurity, to provide safe surfing and prepare curricula specialised in cyber safety for children.
In addition, an excellent autistic student and the outstanding academic university students, representing the top three winning teams in the scientific researches for smart applications, will be awarded for their positive contribution to the knowledge economy in the UAE.
Speaking on the occasion, Adel Alkaff Al Hashmi, Conference Chair and Chairman of the Chartered Institute for IT (BCS) Middle East Chapter, said, "Holding the seventh version lays within the wise vision of our leadership in terms of positioning the UAE in the digital era and leading the transformation of the country in the knowledge economy, smart applications and business entrepreneurship."
Philip Parham, UK Ambassador to the UAE, expressed his happiness at the conference being held in Abu Dhabi and stressed the significance of the Institute’s efforts to promote the development of the IT industry in both the UAE and UK, aiming to raise the bar of technical creativity in the education sector to bring the diversity to the knowledge economy in the country.
Alongside the conference, an exhibition was held where several international ICT companies, leading national academic institutions and local distinctive entities, exhibited their state-of-the-art technological innovations.
