The Abu Dhabi Judicial Department has won the 'Best Innovative Government Service' award for its 'Marriage Registrar' application that allows for the complete civil marriage registration procedures through an iPad or smart device.
The award was delivered during a ceremony organised by the Excellence Awards Academy in the Arab region in the Egyptian capital, Cairo, in the presence of many officials.
The award’s administration considered the department’s application as a paradigm shift in smart services available to the public, as it complies with smart government directives to promote the use of smart devices for government services, saving users their time and effort.
Yousuf Saeed Al Abri, Abu Dhabi Judicial Department Under-Secretary, congratulated H.H. Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Presidential Affairs and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department, for this achievement while highlighting his directives and desire to utilise all the available resources of the human resources department, as well as modern technology, to provide the best judicial services according to international standards.
He stressed that the 'Marriage Registrar' application, which also won the Gov Magazine Award in 2015, is a paradigm shift in providing public services in terms of speed, quality and the use of modern technology.
Yusuf Al Hosni, Director of the Courts and Customers Assistance Sector, stated that the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department has managed to develop its electronic systems to be compatible with mobile phones and the latest smart card readers, as well as with network technologies.
He added that the winning application can rapidly and efficiently obtain information from relevant persons through a smart card reader, and it can register and document their marriage contract and issue documents immediately through an iPad linked to the e-system of the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department. The registrar can then forward relevant documents to the appropriate department to complete the contract, helping to save time and effort.
