Abu Dhabi is to become home to the first-of-its-kind Government Academy in the UAE. The launch came during the UAE Government Annual Meetings under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council.
The Abu Dhabi Government Academy aims to boost the efficiency of the government sector in the UAE, while preparing highly qualified graduates to increase government efficiency through a number of tailored training programmes for government sector employees in Abu Dhabi. Four training programmes are to be developed by the Abu Dhabi Government Academy; a general requirements programme, a specialised programme, a corporate programme and future leaders programme. Each programme will focus on a number of key skills necessary to boost government performance.
The academy seeks to establish standard performance evaluation criteria in order to assess the professional and academic levels of employees in line with their roles in the government. It will adopt best practices and latest trends in career development through an assessment-based training plan that is specific to the employee in order to meet his or her career development needs. The training plans are determined on the basis of "skills gap assessment" tools as well as performance appraisals of employees.
The announcement of the establishment of the Abu Dhabi Government Academy reflects the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to build up capabilities of the human cadres in Abu Dhabi as an integral part of career development.
The academy will be launched in the second half of 2018 in partnership with public and private academic institutions in Abu Dhabi. It will provide a wide range of training opportunities for employees in all fields making it the most recognised training academy in Abu Dhabi.
