HE Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, chairman of Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Organization (TAG-Org) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Jordan's New Country Director HE Ms. Sara Ferrer Olivella discussed various key issues including cooperation in various fields.
The meeting represents the solid relations between TAG-Org and UNDP and the unique understanding of the work conducted by the UNDP in Jordan.
Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh welcomed Ms. Olivella saying that TAG-Org is proud to be part of UNDP mission in Jordan.
"We have been a huge supporter of the efforts and work done by the UNDP in Jordan and we are ready to extend our cooperation in various fields and sectors through our companies and 86 offices around the world. We consider our relation with the UNDP a unique one which proved to be successful through the many projects and studies we did together," he said.
Meanwhile, Ms. Olivella expressed her admiration of the work conducted by Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh and TAG-Org saying: "I appreciate all what I have learned during this meeting about the capacity and efforts of TAG-Org headed by Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh. I support the idea of having the involvement of the private sector onboard which plays a big role in major fields that contribute to the wellbeing of all societies."
In 2016, the UNDP honored Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh for his role in furthering the development goals during the UNDP's celebration of the 50th Anniversary of founding the Programme and the 40th Anniversary of the start of its operations in Jordan.
Also in the same year, the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation launched a study on the "Indirect Impact of the Syrian Refugee Crisis on the Jordanian Economy" funded by the UNDP, and prepared by Talal Abu-Ghazaleh & Co. Consulting (TAG-Consult).
TAG-Org cooperates with the UNDP in several projects, most notably in the fields of capacity building that aim to achieve sustainable development for Jordanian youth and Syrian refugees.
Ms. Olivella, Spanish, worked for 16 years in the UN system in general and in UNDP in specific at the headquarters and some other countries. Her latest appointment was as the Regional Advisor for the United Nations Development Group (UNDG) New York.
Ms. Olivella, who is a development practitioner with a political science background with an area of expertise in human rights and governance issues, holds a Master's Degree in Political Science and Public Administration awarded by the Autonomous University of Barcelona (Spain) and a European Master's Degree in Human Rights and Democratization by the Inter-European University Center for Human Rights and Democratization (Italy)
