Acting Libyan ambassador in Cairo arrested

Former Acting Libyan acting ambassador here Ali Mahmoud Mariya was arrested by Egyptian security men, said an Egyptian security official on Tuesday. Also, another Libyan official named Mohamed Ali Ibrahim was arrested. The two were in company with Ahmed Qaddaf el-Dam, the former coordinator of Egyptian-Libyan relations during his arrest in his residence in the Cairo lush district of Zamalek earlier in the day, he added. In statemens to MENA, the source said that the three were arrested in line with a request by the Interpol and after receiving instructions from Attorney General Kamel Samir Gergis. They are facing charges of financial corruption during the time of late Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi, he added.
