Al-Azhar Grand Imam Dr. Ahmed el-Tayyeb reviewed with head of the Shura Council's financial and economic affairs committee Mohamed Abdul Magiud el-Feqi a bill on Islamic Sukuk (bonds), which was rejected by members of Al Azhar's Islamic Research Academy. During a meeting on Sunday, el-Tayyeb said that the state assets are only owned by the people and should be protected and developed for the public good. "Al Azhar will never approve any bill that wastes these assets," el-Tayyeb said. He asserted that Al Azhar supports any project contributing to the renaissance of the nation and serving Egypt's best interests.
