A joint committee of experts and representatives of interior and justice ministries started on Sunday two-day talks at the headquarters of the Arab League to study a draft Arab agreement on refugees.
The discussions, chaired by Egypt, on the bill are the final ones before referring it to the next meeting of the Arab justice minister council for approval.
The accord will organize the conditions of refugees in the Arab states amid a surge in their numbers due to wars and conflicts in the region, said Fadel Mohamed Qawad, the assistant secretary general of the pan-Arab body.
He called on the Arab countries to prevent a possible regional humanitarian crisis due to the unprecedented flow of refugees into their countries.
The planned agreement will allow refugees to file asylum applications in the countries to which they moved, he noted.
