Security bodies managed to thwart an attempt to smuggle more than 55,000 Captagon pills to one of the Arab countries as part of efforts exerted to combat all forms of crimes.
The perpetrators tried to conceal the pills inside a car loaded with fruit and smuggle them via Safaga Port.
A manhunt was launched and one of the smugglers was arrested during the security campaign.
The smuggler confessed to committing the crime in collaboration with another fugitive.
Legal measures were taken and the criminal was referred to prosecution for investigations.
