Bahrain's Cassation Court on Monday said that it received the file of the case in which two men were sentenced to death by the National Safety Court of First Instance. The ruling was upheld by the National Safety Court of Appeals and the Cassation Court will now issue the final verdict. Ali Abdullah Hassan Al Singees and Abdul Aziz Abdul Ridha Ebrahim Hassan were sentenced to death after they were found guilty by the lower court of killing two policemen in March as security men were conducting an operation to evacuate the then Pearl Roundabout, the headquarters for demonstrations and rallies. Two other defendants were also sentenced to death, but the Court of Appeals commuted the ruling to life in prison along three other people found guilty in the same cases. The announcement by the Cassation Court was an indication that the legal process in the case was following the course chartered by Bahrain's laws on capital punishment. From / Gulf News
