Bahraini court convicted Thursday Seven protesters and sentenced four of them to death and life in prison for the other three for the killing of two policemen during the anti-government demonstrations last month. The seven were tried behind closed doors on charges of premeditated murder of government employees. Their lawyers denied the charges. The court sentenced for death each of Ali Abdullah Hassan Sinkis, and Qasim Hassan Mattar Ahmed, Saeed Abdul Jalil Al Said, Abdul Aziz Abdul Redha Ibrahim Hussein, and life in prison for each of: Issa Abdullah Kazim Ali, Saeed Sadiq Ali Mahdi, Hussein Jaafar Abdul Karim. The hearing was attended by representatives of human rights institutions in Bahrain and abroad as well as representatives from the local media as well as a number of defendants and the victim's family members.
