Public Security Chief Major-General Tariq Hassan Al-Hassan today chaired the regular meeting of the National Disaster Management Committee, in the presence of officials representing ministries and government departments. The panel discussed coordination mechanisms with other concerned parties to deal with disasters and emergencies as well as precautionary measures and practical applications. The session recommended allocating a budget under the supervision of the National Disaster Management Committee, in addition to a database on the disabled and people with special needs to ensure theme needs in case of disasters and emergencies. Ongoing preparations to host the Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix were also discussed to ensure readiness for the global motorsport event. The National Disaster Management Committee held an urgent meeting yesterday following the earthquake which hit Bahrain.
