Minister of Foreign Affairs, Gebran Bassil, met on Friday with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Sri Lanka, Vasantha Senanayake, who said after the meeting that "it was decided to strengthen and develop relations between our two countries and to support our candidates in international organizations."
"We are also considering the development of flights between the two countries. (...) I have asked the minister to take into account the opening of an embassy for Lebanon in Sri Lanka, especially since we have an active embassy in Lebanon for over 20 years," he said.
"Sri Lanka is currently participating in the international forces operating in southern Lebanon with about 8.000 soldiers, which confirms our country's keenness on good relations with Lebanon," the diplomat added.
Minister Bassil later met with Venezuela's Ambassador to Lebanon Zuwaid Karam, with talks featuring high on bilateral relations
