Special Adviser of the Secretary-General of the United Nations and his envoy to Yemen Jamal Ben Omar on Thursday hailed the military shakeup decisions taken by President Abdo Rabbo Mansour Hadi yesterday.President Hadi's decisions setting up military regions and appointing their commanders is a step in the right direction to complete the restructuring and reunifying of Yemen's armed forces," Ben Omar said in a press release, a copy of which was obtained by the Yemeni news agency (Saba).Those decisions are in line with the power transfer agreement and UN Security Council two relevant resolutions. They also come as part of several courageous steps taken by President Hadi to boost atmosphere for the national dialogue in Yemen," he added.The UN envoy further said, "I have noticed through the communications I have made following the issuance of those decisions a popular support and a strong international support for those decisions."Ben Omar expressed his confidence that these decisions were in the interest of strengthening security and stability in Yemen.
