Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri warned Wednesday of a plot targeting Lebanon’s stability, and stresses that dialogue has become a necessity given the current circumstances. “There is a plot targeting stability in Lebanon starting with what Israel is preparing and the repercussions of the Syrian situation,” visitors quoted the speaker as saying. Berri added that total commitment to national unity would enable the country to foil the plot. “Amid the difficult and critical circumstances we are going through, national dialogue has gone from being a need to a necessity,” he was quoted as saying. He also said that in previous trials, particularly the Israeli aggression in July of 2006, Lebanon achieved victory through resistance and national unity. Political leaders gathered in Baabda Palace Monday to resume National Dialogue sessions stalled since November 2010, agreeing to back the army and shield Lebanon from regional and international conflicts. Berri described the session as good and serious but criticized leaks to the media. He also stressed the need to deal with the issue of dialogue with the utmost responsibility.
