Speaker of the House, Nabih Berri, on Monday stepped up calls on the Lebanese government to implement the new wage hike.
"Let us keep in mind that those entitled to legitimize expenditures are also entitled to legitimize revenues and taxes within or outside the context of the budget," Speaker Berri said in a statement.
"Also keep in mind the fact that the House of Parliament is the one entitled to enact constitutional restrictions and not the opposite -- unless there arises a necessity to reassess a constitutional violation," Berri explained.
"The Constitutional Council's decision is not the work of 'angels'" Berri added
