Prisoners at small jail in Jub Jennin, Western Bekaa, rioted briefly Saturday over conditions at the detention center, security sources said. The sources, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the prisoners revolted at about 7 a.m. and called on authorities to improve the conditions at the facility, which accommodates some 150 inmates but has a capacity for half that number. One of the inmates set his bed sheets on fire, which prompted the police to intervene, the sources said, adding that the prisoners returned to their cells after the guards promised to relay their demands to the relevant authorities. The prisoners called for an end to the overcrowding at the center. The Daily Star
