The press office of Prime Minister Saad Hariri issued the following release:
"At the end of the cabinet meeting, the Minister of Information ad interim Pierre Abi Assi read Prime Minister Hariri's statement during the session.
Abi Assi then answered the questions of the journalists. He announced that the two items related to the waste crisis, the first about expanding the Costa Brava and Burj Hammoud landfills, and the second about the general plan for waste, were merged together. He added that a ministerial committee was formed to study the subject in all its details and report to the Council of Ministers in its next meeting, or the one after at the latest, so a decision a taken. He said that addressing the two items requires a transitional phase to prevent the accumulation of waste on the streets and endangering the environment and public health.
Regarding the Lebanese Ambassador to Saudi Arabia and the Saudi Ambassador to Lebanon, Abi Assi said that the issue was raised at the beginning of the meeting and "Prime Minister Hariri was keen to find the appropriate solution at the earliest for the diplomatic exchange between the two countries".
On the extension of the contracts of the mobile service providers, he said: "The contracts have been extended for one year, during which the national plan for the cell phones will be reviewed. Next year, we will move from extending contracts to a comprehensive national plan for the cell phone
