Chairman of Geneva Human Rights Centre praises UAE Federal Law for service workers
Geneva - Arab Today

Dr. Hanif Hassan Al Qasim, Chairman of the Geneva Centre for Human Rights Advancement and Global Dialogue, has hailed the new Federal Law issued by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan for service workers.

"This law is an unprecedented initiative that strengthens the leadership of the UAE, builds on its credibility in preserving human dignity, and provides for the needs of its citizens, as well as residents, provided they perform their duties in accordance with the law, he said. The law must be respected by everyone and applied to all without distinction or differentiation," he said.

He called the law a pillar of success in the Emirati experience, facilitating the peaceful and harmonious co-existence between the various nationalities living in the UAE.

"The law was established by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, under the guidance of Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and is considered a paradigm shift in assisting service workers, characterised by its coverage of all the stakeholders working in the sector, ensuring autonomy and preserving their rights," he noted.

Al Qasim went on to say that the law and the other legislation governing the work and life of social groups would reflect the success of the state, and enable it to promote a culture of tolerance in the society, despite the events and changes that are being witnessed internationally, including the spread of hatred, extremism and discrimination.

"The UAE is a model of hard work, and continues to be one, and will always be dedicated to preserving human rights and protecting the vulnerable as well as the marginalised groups," he concluded.
