Committee reviews final draft of National Reading Law executive regulations
Dubai - Arab Today

The committee in charge of implementing the National Reading Law has discussed its progress in drafting the law’s executive regulations, as part of an overall organisational framework to promote reading in the country, and the monitoring of detailed plans for several strategic initiatives. It also reviewed the initial plans for the National Reading Month taking place in March 2018.

These discussions took place during the committee’s regular meeting at the Ministry of Cabinet Affairs and the Future, headed by Maryam Al Hammadi, Assistant Director-General for Government Performance at the Prime Minister’s Office, with the attendance of Mansour Al Mansouri, Director-General of the National Media Council, NMC; Marwan Ahmed Al Sawaleh, Under-Secretary at the Ministry of Education; Mohammed Selim Al Olama, Under-Secretary at the Ministry of Health and Community Prevention; Mohammed Ahmed bin Abdulaziz, Under-Secretary at the Ministry of Economy for Economic Affairs; Abdullah Majid Al Ali, Acting Executive Director and Representative of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, and Aisha Mayran, Deputy Secretary-General of the Dubai Executive Council.

Al Hammadi said that the committee aims to unite the various efforts to combine the law’s articles into one comprehensive action system, which will transform reading to a sustainable individual, family and community activity.

She added that they have drafted the executive regulations of the reading law to advance it from its theoretical phase to its practical application while noting that the regulations will include an executive framework that complies with the ten-years goas of the National Reading Plan, as well as active mechanisms that support the implementation of the law’s articles, in line with the key goals identified by the UAE leadership, to promote reading as a key component of the lives of individuals.
