Giza Criminal Court sentenced on Tuesday 22 terrorists to 25 years in jail and six others to three years on charges of collecting money from Rabaa and Nahda sitters-in to carry out terrorist attacks in Egypt.
The court ordered acquitting eight other defendants in the same case.
Investigations revealed that two leaders of the terrorist group, identified as Qassem Ragab and Sayyed Ahmed, planned to launch hostile actions against the police and Armed Forces, destroy public facilities and terrorize citizens.
The defendants admitted that they rented apartments in Cairo and Giza, where they stored and manufactured explosives. They also revealed plans to fire rockets at Tahrir Square during celebrations of the June 30 revolution.
