The Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry recently organised a monthly staff gathering at its head office which highlighted the importance of adopting a healthy and positive lifestyle as a foundation for achieving personal and professional success.
During his welcome address, Essa Al Zaabi, Senior Vice-President, Institutional Support Sector, Dubai Chamber, revealed that the chamber is launching various initiatives and events to support the UAE’s National Happiness and Positivity Charter, which aims to instil happiness and positivity within all segments of society.
He congratulated the winners of the fourth cycle of the chamber’s Sehhati programme. The holistic programme encourages healthy eating habits among staff, and incorporates wearable technology to track the number of steps participants take throughout the two-month competition.
Al Zaabi revealed that Sehhati attracted strong participation and results in its fourth cycle, with a total of 22.9 million steps taken by participants, while 69 kilograms of fat was lost collectively over the eight-week period.
"Dubai Chamber firmly supports our staff in setting positive goals for their lives, as we know that healthy and happy staff are crucial to the success of the chamber and the happiness of our customers," said Al Zaabi.
Speaking during the event, Nick Watson, Founder of the Team Angel Wolf initiative, shared the inspirational story of his 12-year old son who did not let a disability get in the way of participating in a triathlon. He stressed the importance of including people with special needs in sporting events and encouraging them to realise their potential.
