The Dubai Film and TV Commission, DFTC, has extended its partnership with the Dubai Foundation for Women and Children and Reel Cinemas to host a second film screening for children. The screening, which took place on 20th September, forms part of DFTC’s initiative "A Smile for Every Child" which aims to give back to the community in line with the #Year of Giving 2017.

Reel Cinemas, part of the Emaar Entertainment brand, hosted the screening at its Dubai Mall location for 20 children and their mothers from the Dubai Foundation for Women and Children. The young viewers were treated to 'Nut Job 2' with popcorn and beverages to add to the cinematic experience.

Jamal Al Sharif, Chairman of Dubai Film and TV Commission, said: "We are thrilled to be partnering once again with Dubai Foundation for Women and Children and Reel Cinemas for the second time this year. This initiative is an important part of our efforts to bring joy and happiness to our communities by sharing our love and appreciation of film and the big screen. It also is testament to our commitment to the Year of Giving 2017, a wonderful initiative, announced by our leaders earlier this year, that has created a platform from which we can invest in giving something back to and creating a positive impact on UAE society."

He continued, "Our latest screening is one of a number of activities planned under the campaign 'A Smile for Every Child', drawing on the positive effects of film and cinema, helping bringing a smile to children’s faces and in turn helping to enhance their overall health and wellbeing."

As an educational and learning tool for children, film can help them in exploring and observing the world around them as well as enhancing their creativity and imagination which is in line with UAE Leadership’s emphasis on innovative thinking and UAE’s Vision 2021.

Adon Quinn, ?Senior Director, Reel Cinemas, said, "We’re delighted to once again be hosting the Dubai Foundation for Women and Children at Reel Cinemas at Dubai Mall. This partnership with Dubai Film and TV Commission allows us to help share the enjoyment of cinema and put smiles on the faces of children and their parents. It’s our pleasure to once again welcome them as part of the year of giving, and look forward to continuing to give back to the community."

The first film screening was hosted earlier this year in April at Reel Cinemas, Dubai Mall, when 35 women and children from the Dubai Foundation for Women and Children relaxed whilst enjoying the Disney blockbuster family favourite, ‘Moana’.
