Dubai Municipality has denied rumors about the existence of plastic rice in Dubai markets. In response to a rumour circulating on social media channels regarding it being sold in Dubai markets, the municipality has clarified that there is nothing in the market known as plastic rice.
Iman Al Bastaki, Director of Food Safety Department at Dubai Municipality pointed out that the report lacks credibility and is insignificant. However, she said, Dubai Municipality would like to clarify on this matter, because it may mislead consumers.
"All types of rice available in Dubai markets are natural. Though high or low quality types of rice are available, they are within the approved specifications," she said.
