Libya's Deputy Foreign Minister Abdul-Razzaq al-Greidi stressed in a phone call with Egyptian Foreign Minister Mohamed Kamel Amr that the Libyan authorities are committed to protecting Egyptians and their interests in the country. Greidi condemned the attack on the Egyptian church in Benghazi, asserting that such assault does not reflect the behaviors of Libyans. For his part, Amr also said that his country is responsible for protecting Libyan diplomatic missions and interests, praising the historic deep-rooted bilateral relations. Amr directed the Egyptian embassy in Tripoli and the consulate in Benghazi to follow up developments of the investigations into the attack on an Egyptian Coptic Orthodox church.
