Egypt's Mufti Shawky Allam
Cairo - Arab Today

Egypt's Mufti Shawky Allam lashed out at weird and unscientific religious opinions issued by terrorists in violation of the teachings of Islam.

Addressing the opening of the international conference of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, Allam urged all religious institutions in the Islamic and Arab world to shoulder responsibility in the face of the current challenges, especially terror which plagued all communities.

He urged officials to close ranks in the face of the challenges besetting social stability.

Allam said Islam and all heavenly religions call for peaceful coexistence and renouncing violence.

He voiced hope that the action plans to be issued by the conference would form the basis for spreading the culture of peace and renouncing terror
