The Emirates Red Crescent, ERC, has delivered a new batch of medical aid to the Ministry of Health in Somalia, including medicines and medical equipment and supplies for fractures, wounds and burns, to treat those injured in the recent terrorist explosion in Mogadishu.
Dr. Abdirizak Yusuf Ahmed, Deputy Under-Secretary and Director of Medical Services at the Ministry of Health in Somalia, has received, at the UAE Embassy in Mogadishu, the medical supplies from the ERC delegation situated in the country, in the presence of embassy officials.
Dr. Ahmed praised the UAE’s initiatives to help the people of Somalia under all conditions and circumstances, highlighting that the UAE’s rapid intervention and humanitarian actions have helped ease the burdens of those affected.
The Sheikh Zayed Hospital in Mogadishu is continuing to treat individuals injured in the terrorist attack.
The ERC confirmed that it has made considerable efforts to follow the directives of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler's Representative in Al Dhafra Region and Chairman of the ERC, to achieve the broader directives of the UAE’s wise leadership, to ease the burden of those affected by the terrorist incident and continuing to stand by the people of Somalia.
The humanitarian organisation added that its local office is cooperating and coordinating on a number of issues with the UAE Embassy in Mogadishu and concerned health institutions in Somalia and Kenya, to limit the effects of the incident and ease the health and humanitarian suffering of civilians. Its medical and relief teams are also present at the heart of the action and among the victims, to assess their needs, provide for their basic requirements and help them to overcome their current circumstances.
