The Emirates Red Crescent, ERC, has carried out a campaign to raise awareness about breast cancer and the importance of early detection, which benefited some 850 people from various age groups within the UAE.
The campaign, which saw the participation of all ERC branches, coincides with the national campaign to raise awareness about breast cancer in the country.
Rashid Mubarak Al Mansouri, Deputy Secretary-General for Local Affairs at the ERC, said that the campaign is being put in place within the framework of its local humanitarian assistance administration plan of awareness and training.
He added that the event is part of the activities hosted by the ERC to raise awareness about breast cancer and the importance of early detection to avoid its implications and reduce risks.
Al Mansouri emphasised that the awareness campaign, with the participation of many medical centres, included speeches on the causes, prevention, as well as the importance of early detection. He added that female volunteers distributed self-examination gloves, trained female participants, and also gave them information brochures.
He said that the ERC has participated in the pink caravans since its inception in 2011, reflecting its keenness to raise awareness about breast cancer.
