The future of relations bonding Bahrain and the UK came under the spotlighted as His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa met British Premier David Cameron at 10 Downing Street last Monday. "Other key issues relating to the GCC and the British initiative were also on the agenda", Foreign Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Khalifa said. He stressed the importance of HM the King's visit to the UK, the first since the Bahrain Independent Commission of Inquiry (BICI) submitted its report. The two sides discussed Mr. Cameron's initiative, regional stability in addition to Iran, Syria and Yemen. Shaikh Khalid said that HM King Hamad submitted to the British side a paper detailing aspects of bilateral cooperation. The document will be scrutinized by joint cooperation commissions. He lauded Britain as a friendly country and key historic ally, hailing its crucial role in promoting Bahrain's development and modernization. He stressed Bahrain's need for British and security expertise and economic knowhow.
