FTA launches programme to measure air pollution
Abu Dhabi - Arab Today

The Federal Transport Authority-Land and Maritime, FTA, launched the "Al Hurr – FTA" initiative which aims to develop a "drone" with a device to measure air pollutants due to road transport during a celebration of the UAE’s 46th National Day at its headquarters in Abu Dhabi today.

Officials said it is expected to provide a comprehensive evaluation of the environmental effects of road transport on the quality of air. This will be used to compare the environmental performance of road transport in the country with the best practices in the world. Solutions will then be offered to limit emissions from the sector in the country.

Dr. Abdullah bin Mohammed Belhaif Al Nuaimi, Minister of Infrastructure Development and Chairman of the FTA, as well as many of its employees, administrators and clients attended the event.

Dr. Al Nuaimi stated that celebrating the country’s National Day represents a national memory that is precious to the hearts of the people and had established the meaning of loyalty and belonging to the nation and the wise leadership. The event also strengthens the bond between the nation’s people, he added, while praising the role of the UAE’s heroic soldiers in defending the nation and its sanctities and writing the most magnificent chapters of heroism in the fields of honour, which are recorded by history in blazing letters.

During the celebration, the FTA relaunched its website with a new, modern and innovative design and globally competitive specifications that comply with the latest digital developments in programming, designing and managing websites.

Dr. Abdullah Salem Al Katheeri, Director-General of FTA, said that the new website grants FTA a unique experience in terms of ease of browsing, finding information, receiving the desired services and ensuring knowledge participation through simple and easy steps, which guarantee effective search results to the queries of customers.
