The Atlantic Council’s second-annual Global Energy Forum will convene in Abu Dhabi on 12th and 13th January 2018. This premier gathering of government, industry, and thought leaders will set the global energy agenda for the year and anticipate and respond to dramatic changes in the world of energy.
For a second consecutive year, the forum will be held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.
Convened in partnership with the UAE Ministry of Energy, Abu Dhabi National Oil Company, ADNOC, and Mubadala Investment Company, the forum precedes Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week and the World Future Energy Summit.
The 2018 forum will focus on three key themes - the geopolitics of energy transformation; the electrification of everything; and financing and governance mechanisms for the future energy mix. It will also highlight the vital role of women in the energy sector.
Speakers include Suhail bin Mohammed Faraj Faris Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy and Industry; Khalid Al-Falih, Saudi Arabia's Minister of Energy, Industry, and Mineral Resources; Dr. Sultan bin Ahmad Sultan Al Jaber, Minister of State and CEO of ADNOC Group; Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al-Zeyoudi, Minister of Climate Change and Environment; Khaldoon Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Affairs Authority, Managing Director and Group CEO of Mubadala Investment Company; Claudio Descalzi, Chief Executive Officer at Eni S.p.A., and Meg Gentle, President and CEO of Tellurian, Inc.
Forum participants will consider disruptive trends in energy systems and technologies and examine oil, gas, nuclear, and renewable energy market developments in the context of major political and security challenges.
