Cairo - Arab Today

Egypt's Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukri has reiterated that the Gulf Region's security is a red line, rejecting any meddling by non-Arab parties in the internal affairs of Arab nations.

Addressing the emergency meeting of the Arab League Foreign Ministers today here, the top diplomat reaffirmed his country's commitment to support stability and security in the GCC region, accentuating Egypt's categorical rejection of any attempts by any country in the region to interfere and destabilise Arab states.

"Any honest evaluation of the status quo in the Arab region reveals in no uncertain way that there are persistent attempts to meddle in the internal affairs of a large number of Arab nations, starting from the Gulf, to Libya, Iraq, Syria and going all the way down to Yemen and Somalia. There are several attempts to destabilise Arab countries, either by instigating internal parties who are allies to certain regional powers, or through the illegitimate presence of non-Arab military forces on Arab territories," he said, noting that all bar none have got to shoulder the responsibility for standing up to these interferences.
