A huge fire was raging in Tunis's Moncef Bey market on Thursday, causing damage to dozens of shops, according to an AFP photographer on the scene. The fire began on Thursday morning in the electronic goods section of the market on the southern edge of the Tunisian capital. Hours later, firefighters were still battling to put out the flames. A shopkeeper interviewed on Mosaique FM radio said that around 100 shops had been damaged and merchandise worth millions of dinars was thought to have gone up in flames. Shopkeepers blocked a street adjacent to the market in protest.
