A huge quantity of fuel and foodstuffs intended to be smuggled was seized Thursday in Bordj Badji Mokhtar by a detachment of the People's National Army, said the Ministry of National Defence in a statement.
"As part of measures to strengthen border security and fight against smuggling and organized crime, a detachment of the People's National Army of the operational area of Bordj Badji Mokhtar (6th Military Region) seized, on Thursday 27 August 2015, an all-terrain vehicle and lorry loaded with 4,000 litres of fuel, 7,200 cooking oil and over 9 tonnes of foodstuffs intended to be smuggled," said the statement.
"Two detachments of the People's National Army of the operational areas of Ghardaia and El Oued (4th Military Region) arrested, during two separate operations on 26 and 27 August 2015, two illegal immigrants and seized DZD 86,500 and 6,490 pills, and also arrested two smugglers and seized 3,200 cigarette packs," added the statement.
