The Interior Ministry said Sunday that a plot by the Muslim Brotherhood group to create crises in the wake of a rise in fuel prices in Egypt has been foiled.
Seven MB members have been arrested on charges of fomenting a number of crises among workers and citizens, a statement by the Interior Ministry said.
The National Security sector acted on a tip that MB leaders had ordered elements to create crises after the fuel price hikes.
They had intended to meet on June 30 at the house of Hassan Aly Ibrahim Younis to give the plot the green light.
Police attacked the house upon a permission from the Supreme State Security Prosecution and arrested Younis and six other members of the group.
They had on them a number of PCs and papers that explained assignments for MB elements to undermine state potentials and create chaos in the country.
All legal measures have been taken and the Supreme State Security Prosecution is investigating the case.
