Beirut - Arab Today

Commander of the Palestinian Joint Force in Ain al-Hilweh Refugee Camp, Colonel Bassam al-Saad, held Sunday an emergency meeting at the Joint Force's headquarters to discuss the situation in wake of the assassination of Mahmoud Ahmad al-Houjeir.

Saad also met with the Committees of Al-Taira, Ras Al-Ahmar and Fourth Sector Neighborhoods, with talks centering on the security situation inside the Camp.

Saad reiterated the unified Palestinian political leadership's decision "not to allow the return of assassinations to the Camp under any circumstances."

He added that "the Joint Palestinian Force representing the Palestinian national and Islamic consensus is concerned with implementing the decision to expose the perpetrators, arrest them and bring them to justice so that they can receive their fair punishment."

The committees, in turn, expressed their willingness to cooperate with the Palestinian Joint Force and the National Security Forces in implementing the "crucial decision to arrest suspects based on investigations conducted by the Joint Force's investigation commission."

The committees decided to keep their meetings open to deal with various developments, while the Joint Force Commander expressed "keenness on the safety of the people and the security and stability of the Camp and the surrounding Lebanese neighborhood
