Judicial Department to offer family guidance to non-Muslims in Abu DhabiThe Abu Dhabi Judicial Department has signed two Memorandums of Understanding, MoUs, with the Angelical Church and the Orthodox Coptic Church in Abu Dhabi, to provide the two communities with family guidance services. The MoUs come in response to an earlier resolution by H.H. Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department, on creating a registry of wills and probate for non-Muslims. The resolution comes within the framework of the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department’s efforts to establish an institutional infrastructure dedicated to tolerance and acceptance of the other and conforming to the legislative structure of UAE law and the community culture that characterises the people of the state. The two MoUs were signed by Counsel Yousef Saeed Al Abri, Department Under-Secretary, and Pastor Bishoy Fakhri, Patron of the Coptic Orthodox Church of St. Anthony, and His Grace Bishop Joseph Faragalla, Head of Evangelical Church Council in Abu Dhabi. Al Abri affirmed that the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department, by signing the two MoUs, inculcate a culture of tolerance by guiding families to survive personal disputes. He noted that the department provides its services at the hand of experts who enjoy long expertise and respect by all disputants. He added that such a move will constitute a quality leap towards enhancing the competitive position of Abu Dhabi and establishing it as an ideal destination for residence and investment. It will also have a positive impact on attracting people with expertise to live and work in the emirate.
