The Kuwaiti Ministry of Foreign Affairs said Friday it is closely monitoring the detention of four Kuwaiti citizens at Iran's Ahavaz area, and coordinating with relevant authorities in order to ensure their release and safe return to their country.

Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) quoted Kuwaiti Assistant Foreign Minister for Consular Affairs Sami Al-Hamad as saying in a press release that upon instructions from First Deputy Premier and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, the Iranian Ambassador to Kuwait was summoned to deliver him a memo demanding access to the detained Kuwaiti citizens and their safe release.
“He added that the Kuwaiti Embassy in Tehran had contacted Iranian authorities to follow up on the arrest of the four Kuwaiti citizens and ask for allowing the Kuwaiti embassy to visit them.
“He noted that the ministry would continue efforts through its embassy in Tehran and the Iranian embassy in Kuwait in order to ensure their release and safe return,” KUNA added
