Kuwait fully supports Egypt's nominee Ahmed Aboul Gheit for the position of secretary-general of the Arab League to succeed current chief Nabil el Araby, said Kuwaiti Deputy Foreign Minister Khaled Suleiman al Jarallah.
In press statements following his meeting Wednesday with Arab League Secretary General Nabil el Araby, Jarallah said that Kuwait informed the Egyptian leadership about its support to the Egyptian nominee.
He also expressed his high regards and appreciation of Araby's efforts during his tenure in the pan-Arab body.
He further said that his meeting with Araby took up the latest developments in the Middle East and the agenda of the 145th session of the AL council at the ministerial level, which will be held on Thursday.
Responding to a question about Kuwait's role in discussing issues which represent challenges of Arab joint action during tomorrow's meeting, Jarallah said that Kuwait is keen on supporting the Arab joint action and discussing causes listed on the agenda of the AL council.
