Lebanon's Central Security Council (CSC) convened on Thursday morning, presided over by President Michel Sleiman and in the presence of Prime Minister Najib Mikati, Defense Minister Fayez Ghosn, Interior Minister Marwan Charbel and other ministers, to discuss the security situation in the country. Army commander General Jean Kahwaji, Internal Security Forces Director General Achraf Rifi, General Security chief General Abbas Ibrahim, State Security chief General George Qoraa and Army Intelligence commander General Edmond Fadel also participated in the meeting. The council reviewed the incidents that have occurred along the Lebanese-Syrian border and the death of three Lebanese citizens by Syrian soldiers. In a statement given following the meeting, the Council stressed that it is important to prohibit arms smuggling and violations of the Lebanese-Syrian border. The Council also assigned tasks to the security forces and instructed them to coordinate their actions.
