A meeting will be held tomorrow, Monday, between representatives of the legislative and executive branches of government. The session follows the directives issued by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa to reach a consensus on rechanneling government subsidies to benefit eligible recipients.
HM the King has also directed to set up a mechanism towards this end and engage the National Audit Office (NAO). A joint committee set up by the Council of Representatives and Shura Council today held a preparatory meeting in a bid to agree on legislative measures to redirect subsidies and target eligible recipients.
Chaired by First Deputy Speaker Ali Al-Aradi, the session was also attended by Shura Council first Deputy Chairman Jamal Fakhro, members of the Shura and Parliament bureaus. The session underscored the importance of reaching a consensus with the executive branch government and setting up a unified mechanism, in addition to implementing the Government Action Plan (2015-18).
