Minister of State for Displaced Persons' Affairs, Moein Merehbi, discussed with Turkish Deputies, Jalaluddin Govech and Ali Ozkaya, the situation in Syria and the crisis of Syrian refugees in Lebanon and Turkey.

Expressing his appreciation for the Turkish government's handling of the crisis of displaced brothers, Merehbi briefed the two Turkish deputies on the repercussions of the Syrian crisis on the economy, infrastructure and standard of living in Lebanon.

"Most of the displaced live below poverty and are concentrated in remote areas, were there is no potable water no electricity and not even proper sewage networks, and where schools and hospitals are insufficient and do not meet the needs of displaced children," he said.

For his part, MP Govech explained how the file of refugees is being managed in Turkey, stressing "the need for Iraq and Syria to remain united and not disintegrate so that the future of the Middle East could be bright." He stressed that "without the US support, the Kurdish People Protection units and the Syrian Democratic Forces would not have been able to stand strong in northern Syria
