Rabat - Kuna

A senior Moroccan official praised on Wednesday Kuwait's distinguished role at the level of supporting economic and social schemes in her country. Latifa Akharbach, the secretary of state to the minister of foreign affairs and cooperation of Morocco, affirmed in a statement to KUNA, following talks she held with the Speaker of the Kuwaiti Parliament Jassem Al-Kharafi, solid basis of the distinguished Kuwaiti-Moroccan relations. The talks with the speaker dealt with the bilateral relations and prospects of the mutual cooperation between Kuwaiti and Morocco, she added. These relations have become closer as a result of the "common perspective of the inspired leaders, His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, and his brother, the Moroccan Monarch Mohammad VI," the minister added. The discussions with speaker Al-Kharafi also dealt with activities of the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development in support for Morocco's development schemes, namely the sectors of agriculture, the infrastructure, transports and water, said Akharbach in the statement to the Kuwaiti news agency. She praised leading role of the Kuwaiti parliament for promotion of democracy and legislation. The official expressed satisfaction at the GCC call on Morocco to join the council saying this overture "affirms depth of the strategic relationship between the country and the states of the council." Al-Kharafi, currently on an official mission in Morocco, is due to hold talks with ranking officials. He arrived here on Tuesday starting a four-day visit, aimed at enhancing the level of cooperation. The visit was in response to an invitation from Morocco's House of Representatives, lower house, Speaker Abdelwahed Radi.
