Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning Minister Essam Abdullah Khalaf, instructed the ministry officials and the emergency team to carry out field inspection visits to the sewerage network to ensure the network’s efficiency and avoid any technical problems as part of the ministry’s early preparations for the rainy season.
The minister gave his instructions as he chaired the meeting at the ministry attended by the Undersecretary Dr. Nabeel Abulfateh, the head of rain emergency team Ahmed Al Khayyat and the general directors of the municipalities.
During the rainy season last year, the ministry spotted about 2,000 pooling points all over Bahrain's regions. The ministry has set up a comprehensive plan to deal with rain-water pooling points.
The minister called on citizens to avoid opening manhole lids as this might cause technical snags, including spillage and stagnation in the drainage system. He urged the public to report any problems by calling the Works and Municipalities Ministry’s hotline.
